At the Hospital Brig, the flowers are delivered to the delivery location specified by the hospital, where they are then brought directly to the patient's room by the hospital staff to surprise the patient.

Every hospital delivery receives express delivery from us at no additional cost. The flowers are also packaged to suit the external conditions and are provided with a so-called fresh bag, which ensures the water supply during the journey.

History of the Brig Hospital

The actual origin of Brig's hospital policy goes back to the founding of the Antonius Hospital in the 14th century. With the massive construction of the Simplon crossing, a new era in transport and economic policy began for the Brig region.

The rapid increase in the population, the many accidents during tunnel construction, a severe typhus epidemic, the introduction of smallpox and other sudden illnesses were the reason for building a new, larger hospital in Brig. Planning for the new hospital began in 1905 and operations for the then modern private hospital with 60 beds began on February 5, 1908.

At the beginning of the 1940s the west wing was built with 60 beds. The new building in the west took place in the following years. In 1955, a further 55 beds were handed over to the company. The hospital east of the Saltina had 175 beds at the time.

New hospital in 1978

Due to new bottleneck problems, the board of directors at the time decided to build a new building. The new acute hospital was planned between 1970 and 1973. The groundbreaking ceremony took place in February 1975 and the new building was built in the following years 1976 and 1977. In June 1978 the new round hospital was opened for operation. The total investment amounted to around CHF 48 million. An open psychiatric ward with 28 beds was also integrated into the acute hospital. This was a novelty throughout Switzerland at the time.

In 1995, the hospital's service mandate for chronically ill patients was redefined, renamed the Clinic for Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care and organizationally integrated into the acute hospital. With the merger of the hospitals on January 1, 2004 to form the Valais health network, a new era in hospital policy was heralded.

Renovation and expansion of the hospital
In October 2015, the Oberwallis SZO Hospital Center launched a project competition for the renovation and expansion of the hospital in Brig as part of the concentration of hospital activities on a single location in Upper Valais.

What do I have to consider:

  • Please make sure that the Patient is still in the Hospital at the Time of Delivery so that we can deliver the Flowers.
  • Patients who are still in the intensive care unit are usually not allowed to receive Flowers until they have been assigned a Room.
