Origin:

Salix, commonly known as willow, is a genus of plants in the willow family (Salicaceae). Willows are widespread in the temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, Asia and North America.

Growth:

Willows are typically fast-growing trees or shrubs that can reach heights of 2 to 30 meters, depending on the species and location. They often have long, supple branches that curve elegantly.

Leaves:

The leaves of willows are generally narrow, lanceolate and green, with some species having a silvery-green coloring. The leaves are arranged alternately and have a smooth or slightly serrated edge.

Blossom:

Willows bloom in spring and bear inconspicuous but attractive flowers to bees and other insects, arranged in catkins. The male and female flowers are usually on separate plants (dioecious).

Location:

Willows prefer moist locations and are often found near rivers, lakes and wetlands. They thrive in well-drained soil and require plenty of sunlight to grow optimally.

Care:

Willows are relatively easy to care for and adaptable. They require regular watering, especially during dry periods, to maintain soil moisture. Annual pruning in late winter or early spring can help maintain the plant's shape and encourage new growth. Willows are also susceptible to certain pests and diseases, so they should be checked regularly for signs of infestation or disease.
